A Seattle Christmas dream for next year…

It’s a blustery, but dry December day in Seattle, driving across the 520 bridge we could just barely make out Mt. Rainier. After surviving the mercer merge to take the mercer street exit, we wind ourselves just to the south of Lake Union, and towards the Space Needle. I get to my special free parking space; we get out, put on our scarves and start our day of memory making. We walk across the Seattle Center and go ice skating, have a few falls, but enjoy our simple time to ourselves.

We enter the wonderfully decorated Center house, and join in on some swing dancing; afterwards a nice hot drink from Starbucks. We wonder out side again, and take a trip to the top of the Space needle and enjoy the beautiful views of our amazing city. On our way down we see the monorail rush by and through the EMP, we remember that one special summer day, and decide to make a special winter day. With Christmas lights flying by and Christmas music playing on the train, we smile in anticipation of what downtown has to offer us.

We arrive at the Westlake center station and embark on our adventure through downtown. First stop all the shops at Westlake center, we get a few Christmas presents for our loved ones, then venture out side. There are street artists playing Christmas tunes, and a salvation army Santa ringing his bell. The carousel is in action, and the streets filled with Christmas shoppers, music, and a great spirit. We go to all the big stores, the downtown Old Navy, Gap, Nordstrom’s, Bon-Macy’s, and look in all the little shop windows. We head down to Pike Street Market, take pictures, and eat a little lunch at one of the many little stores; we get a cup of Coffee at the first Starbuck’s on Pike Street, sit down and just enjoy each other’s company.

After that we hurry back up to Westlake center, grab another coffee for the carousel and enjoy a few rounds, goin’ around and around. It’s getting dark out, so we take the monorail back to Seattle Center, walk slowly through the center, past the International fountain, and to the car. We drive back across the 520 bridge, and into Bellevue.

We enjoy a nice dinner at the Cheesecake factory at Bellevue Square, then we enjoy a little more Christmas shopping and live Christmas music at the mall, then we head home and reminisce about life, the day, and the future. We just smile, look up to heaven, and thank God for these memories.

I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts his praises! My body rests in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your godly one to rot in the grave. You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. [Psalm 16:8-11]
